Medicube Zero Pore Toner is a liquid exfoliating toner built on gluconolactone — a PHA — together with niacinamide. It is the gentlest exfoliating step in the Zero Pore range: it clears the sebum and dead skin that make pores look enlarged, but does it with the mildest class of chemical exfoliant available. That makes it usable far more often than the acid pads, including by people whose skin cannot tolerate stronger acids.

Medicube Zero Pore Toner at a glance

    Size 250 ml
Exfoliant Gluconolactone (PHA) — the gentlest acid class
    Also contains Niacinamide
Best for Visible pores, excess oil, dull or rough texture
Skin types Oily and combination; gentle enough for sensitive skin
Format Liquid toner — apply with hands or a cotton pad
When to use Morning and night, after cleansing
Rinse after? No — follow straight on with serum

What a PHA is, and why it matters here

Polyhydroxy acids are the third generation of chemical exfoliants, after AHAs and BHAs. Gluconolactone, the PHA used here, works the same way in principle — loosening the bonds holding dead cells to the surface — but its molecule is considerably larger than glycolic or salicylic acid.

That size is the entire point. A larger molecule penetrates more slowly and less deeply, which means far less irritation. PHAs are routinely recommended for skin that reacts badly to AHAs, and gluconolactone additionally acts as a humectant, drawing water into the skin as it exfoliates. You get resurfacing without the tightness and stinging.

Niacinamide is the second half of the formula, moderating oil production and supporting the barrier — a sensible partner for skin that is both oily and prone to congestion.

An honest note on pore size

No product permanently shrinks pores. Pore diameter is largely genetic. What exfoliation does is empty the pore of the sebum and dead skin stretching it open, so it looks markedly smaller. Keep the routine going and pores stay clear; stop, and they refill over a few weeks. Real, visible, and maintenance-based rather than permanent.

Why a gentle daily exfoliant suits Kuwait

Heat drives sebum production, and daily sunscreen — which is non-negotiable here — leaves residue that a cleanser alone does not always shift. A mild daily exfoliating toner clears that build-up continuously, which is often more effective than occasional aggressive exfoliation and much less likely to damage the barrier.

    How to use it

    1. Cleanse and pat your face almost dry.
    2. Apply the toner — either decant into your palms and press it in, or use a cotton pad and sweep gently from the centre of the face outwards.
    3. Do not rinse. Let it absorb for a few seconds.
    4. Follow with serum and moisturiser, and sunscreen every morning.

Frequency: morning and night is fine for most skin, which is the advantage of a PHA over stronger acids. If your skin is sensitive, start once daily and build up.

Combining it with the rest of the Zero Pore range

This is where people over-exfoliate without realising, because several products in this line contain acids:

    • On nights you use Zero Pore Pad 2.0 (4.5% AHA + 0.45% BHA), skip this toner. That is already enough exfoliation for one evening.
    • Zero Pore Cream 2.0 contains glycolic acid — fine with this toner for most oily skin, but scale back if you feel any tightness.
    • Zero Pore One Day Serum contains 15.2% AHA, BHA and PHA — treat that as a strong treatment step, not a daily one.

    Frequently asked questions

How do you apply the Medicube Zero Pore Toner?

After cleansing, apply it either with your hands — pressing it into slightly damp skin — or on a cotton pad, sweeping gently from the centre of the face outwards. Do not rinse; follow with serum, moisturiser and sunscreen.

Can I use it every day?

Yes. Because it uses a PHA rather than a stronger AHA or BHA, it is mild enough for twice-daily use for most people. Sensitive skin should start once a day.

    Does it contain acids?

Yes — gluconolactone, a polyhydroxy acid. It is a genuine chemical exfoliant, just the gentlest kind. That is worth knowing if you are also using acid pads or an exfoliating moisturiser, so you do not over-exfoliate.

    Does Medicube really shrink pores?

It makes them look smaller by clearing what is stretching them open, which is a real and visible improvement. It does not permanently reduce pore size — nothing topical does, because pore diameter is mostly genetic.

Can I use it with the Zero Pore Pads?

Not in the same session. The pads deliver 4.5% AHA and 0.45% BHA, which is enough on its own. Use the toner on the nights you are not using the pads.

Is it better than the toner pads?

Different, not better. The toner is milder and designed for daily use; the pads are a stronger, less frequent treatment with physical exfoliation from the embossed texture. Many people use both, on alternating days.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

PHAs are specifically recommended for sensitive skin because the larger molecule reduces irritation. Patch test first, and begin with once-daily use.

Do I need sunscreen with it?

Yes. Any chemical exfoliant leaves fresh skin at the surface, and Kuwait's UV levels are high year-round. Daily sunscreen protects the results you are working for.
