Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0 is a dual-textured exfoliating toner pad formulated with 4.5% AHA (lactic acid) and 0.45% BHA (salicylic acid). One side is embossed to sweep away dead skin and sebum; the other is smooth, for pressing hydration back in. It is Medicube's best-known product worldwide, holding a 4.9 average from more than 2,400 reviews on the brand's own store, and it is aimed squarely at enlarged-looking pores, rough texture and oily shine.

What the acids actually do
The two acids work at different depths, which is why they are paired.
Lactic acid (AHA, 4.5%) is water-soluble and works on the skin's surface, loosening the bonds between dead cells so they shed evenly. Lactic acid is the gentler, more hydrating member of the AHA family — it is a humectant as well as an exfoliant, which is why this formula does not leave skin feeling stripped the way a glycolic product can.
Salicylic acid (BHA, 0.45%) is oil-soluble, so it can travel into the pore lining itself and dissolve the mix of sebum and dead skin that makes blackheads and enlarged-looking pores. This is the ingredient doing the pore work.
An honest note on pore size: nothing shrinks a pore permanently — pore diameter is largely genetic. What exfoliation does is empty the pore of the debris stretching it open, so it looks considerably smaller. Keep using it and pores stay clear; stop, and they gradually refill. That is a real, visible result, but it is maintenance rather than a cure.
In Kuwait's climate this matters more than most places. Heat drives sebum production, and layering sunscreen daily — which you should — leaves residue that a plain cleanser does not always shift. A twice-weekly acid pad clears that build-up before it settles into pores.
How to use it correctly
- Cleanse first and pat your face dry. Pads are not a cleanser and should not be used to remove makeup.
- Take one pad and start with the embossed side. Sweep gently from the centre of your face outwards — forehead, nose, cheeks, chin. Let the texture do the work; do not scrub.
- Flip to the silky side and go over your face again, more slowly, to soothe and add hydration.
- Do not rinse. Press whatever essence remains into your skin with your palms.
- Follow with serum and moisturiser, and sunscreen every single morning.
Getting the frequency right
This is where most people go wrong. Combined AHA and BHA at these strengths is a genuine chemical exfoliant, not a wipe. Start at two to three nights a week and only increase if your skin stays comfortable. Tightness, stinging, unexpected flaking or new sensitivity all mean you are exfoliating too often — scale back and let the barrier recover.
Do not use these pads on the same night as a retinoid or another acid product. Alternate nights instead.
What to use after the pads
Your skin is freshly exfoliated and unusually receptive, so follow with hydration rather than more actives. Zero Pore Toner continues the pore routine, or PDRN Pink Peptide Serum adds calming hydration without any additional acids. Seal with Collagen Jelly Cream, which contains no acids. Note that Zero Pore Cream 2.0 contains glycolic acid, so save it for nights you are not using these pads.

Frequently asked questions
How do you use Medicube Zero Pore Pad correctly?
After cleansing and drying your face, sweep the embossed side gently from the centre outwards, then flip to the silky side and repeat more slowly. Do not rinse — press the remaining essence in, then apply serum, moisturiser and sunscreen.
Do I need to rinse my face after using the pads?
No. The remaining liquid is a hydrating toner essence meant to stay on the skin. Pat it in and carry on with the rest of your routine.
Can I use Medicube Zero Pore Pad 2.0 every day?
Most people should not, at least not at first. With 4.5% AHA and 0.45% BHA, two to three times a week is the safe starting point. Some oily skin types tolerate daily use eventually, but build up slowly and stop increasing at the first sign of tightness or stinging.
What ingredients are in Medicube Zero Pore Pads?
The active exfoliants are 4.5% lactic acid (AHA) and 0.45% salicylic acid (BHA), supported by plant extracts and soothing agents that hydrate and calm as they exfoliate. Medicube describes the formula as hypoallergenic and tested for sensitive skin.
What should I use after the pads?
Hydration, not more actives. A calming serum and a moisturiser are ideal. Avoid retinoids or other acids on the same night.
Do these pads actually shrink pores?
They clear the sebum and dead skin that stretch pores open, which makes pores look meaningfully smaller. They cannot permanently change pore size, which is mostly genetic. The improvement lasts as long as you keep the routine going.
Are they suitable for sensitive skin?
Medicube tests the formula for sensitive skin, and lactic acid is among the gentler AHAs. Even so, if your skin reacts easily, patch test first and start with once a week.
Can I use them if I am using retinol?
Yes, but not on the same night. Alternate — retinoid one night, pads another — to avoid over-exfoliating and compromising your skin barrier.
Do I need sunscreen when using these?
Yes, without exception. AHAs increase sun sensitivity, and in Kuwait's UV levels daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential — otherwise you undo the tone and texture benefits you are exfoliating for.
