Medicube Zero Pore Cream 2.0 is a lightweight, fast-absorbing moisturiser for oily and combination skin — and unusually for a moisturiser, it contains glycolic acid. That single detail changes how you should use it. It is not a plain hydrating cream but a mildly exfoliating one, designed to keep pores clear while it moisturises. Used correctly it is excellent for congested, shiny skin; used alongside other acids on the same night, it is the reason some people find it too much.

The glycolic acid detail that matters
Glycolic acid is the smallest AHA molecule, which is why it is the most penetrating and the most active of the group. In a moisturiser it works quietly in the background: gently loosening dead cells so they shed rather than accumulating in pores, which over time means smoother texture and pores that look less congested.
The practical consequences are worth spelling out, because most listings do not mention the acid at all:
- Do not use it on the same night as Zero Pore Pad 2.0. Those pads already deliver 4.5% AHA and 0.45% BHA. Adding a glycolic moisturiser on top is double exfoliation and the most likely cause of tightness, stinging or flaking. Use the pads one night, this cream on other nights.
- Keep it away from retinol nights, including the Kojic Acid Turmeric Night Wrapping Mask.
- Wear sunscreen. Unlike azelaic acid, glycolic acid does increase sun sensitivity. Daily SPF is not optional with this cream in your routine.
The rest of the formula is well balanced against that acid. Hyaluronic acid and glycerin handle hydration, while panthenol and allantoin are there to calm. It also contains botanical extracts including cinnamon bark and lemongrass — these give the cream its distinct scent, and are worth noting if your skin reacts to botanical ingredients. Patch test if you are prone to sensitivity.
Why a light moisturiser matters in Kuwait
Oily skin in a hot climate often gets left unmoisturised entirely, which backfires — dehydrated skin compensates by producing more oil. A gel-light cream that absorbs in seconds is far more likely to be used consistently than a rich one that feels heavy under sunscreen at 45°C.
How to use it
- Apply it as the last step of your routine, after toner and serums.
- Take a small amount and spread it gently, following your skin's texture rather than dragging against it.
- Pat lightly to help absorption.
- Add sunscreen in the morning, without exception.
Frequency: daily is fine for most oily and combination skin, but if you are also using exfoliating pads or a retinoid, alternate nights instead. If your skin feels tight or looks flaky, you are exfoliating too often somewhere in your routine — reduce, do not push through.
Where it fits in the Zero Pore routine
| Step | Product | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cleanse (PM) | Zero Pore Blackhead Deep Cleansing Oil | Removes sunscreen and hardened sebum |
| Cleanse | Zero Pore SA Clear Capsule Cleansing Foam | Second cleanse |
| Tone | Zero Pore Toner | Contains gluconolactone (PHA) — gentle enough for daily use |
| Exfoliate | Zero Pore Pad 2.0 | 2–3 nights weekly — not with this cream |
| Treat | Zero Pore One Day Serum | Targeted pore care |
| Moisturise | Zero Pore Cream 2.0 | On non-exfoliation nights |
| Protect (AM) | Zero Pore Moisture Sun Serum | Essential alongside glycolic acid |
If you would rather have a moisturiser with no acids at all — so you can use it every night regardless of what else you apply — Collagen Jelly Cream is the better companion. Browse the complete Medicube range at EmartGCC.
Frequently asked questions
How do you use Medicube Zero Pore Cream?
Apply it as the final step of your routine, after cleansing, toner and any serums. Spread a small amount gently along the skin's texture and pat lightly to absorb. Follow with sunscreen in the morning.
When should I use it — morning or night?
Either, and both if your skin tolerates it well. Because it contains glycolic acid, many people prefer it at night and use a non-exfoliating moisturiser in the morning.
Can I use it with the Zero Pore Pads?
Not on the same night. The pads contain 4.5% AHA and 0.45% BHA, and this cream adds glycolic acid on top. Alternate: pads on one night, cream on the others.
Is it good for oily skin?
Yes — it is specifically formulated for oily and combination skin. It absorbs quickly, leaves no greasy film, and the glycolic acid helps keep pores from congesting.
Can I wear it under makeup?
Yes. It absorbs fast and leaves a smooth, non-greasy base. Give it a minute to settle before applying foundation.
Does it contain fragrance?
There is no added parfum in the ingredient list, but it does include botanical extracts such as cinnamon bark and lemongrass, which give it a noticeable natural scent. If your skin reacts to botanical ingredients, patch test before regular use.
Will it make my skin sensitive to the sun?
Glycolic acid does increase sun sensitivity, so daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential while using this cream — particularly in Kuwait's year-round UV levels.
Is it suitable for dry or sensitive skin?
It is designed for oily and combination skin, and the glycolic acid may be too active for dry or reactive skin as a daily moisturiser. A non-exfoliating cream is a better everyday choice for those skin types.
