What is actually in it — the declared numbers
The published ingredient list for this body wash declares several ingredients by concentration, which is unusually transparent and lets us be specific rather than vague:
| Ingredient | Declared amount | As a percentage |
|---|---|---|
| Niacinamide | 20,000 ppm | 2% |
| Kojic acid | 200 ppm | 0.02% |
| Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) | 10 ppm | 0.001% |
| Turmeric root extract | 10 ppm | 0.001% |
What that means in practice
Read plainly: niacinamide is the real active in this product. At 2% it is present at a level that does something. The kojic acid, vitamin C and turmeric — the three ingredients the name is built around — are present at token levels, in the range of hundredths and thousandths of a percent.
We would rather tell you that than let you buy it expecting the kojic acid to fade pigmentation.
Here is the fair counter-argument, though. This is a body wash. It is on your skin for perhaps sixty seconds and then goes down the drain. No body wash from any brand delivers meaningful brightening from a rinse-off active — the contact time simply is not there. Loading it with expensive kojic acid would mostly be spending your money on something that ends up in the plumbing.
So the low concentrations are not really the problem. The mismatch is between the name and what the product can physically do. Judge it as a well-scented body wash with useful niacinamide and salicylic acid, and it is a reasonable product. Judge it as a brightening treatment and it will disappoint you.
The ingredients that do work in a wash-off product
- Salicylic acid — oil-soluble, so it gets into pores. This is the ingredient that genuinely helps with body breakouts on the back, chest and shoulders, and it works even with short contact time.
- Niacinamide at 2% — some benefit for tone and barrier even in a rinse-off, and it is at a real concentration here.
- Zinc ricinoleate — an odour-neutralising ingredient rather than a masking fragrance. A sensible inclusion in a body wash for a hot climate.
- Mild co-surfactants — coco-betaine and cocamide MIPA soften what would otherwise be a fairly brisk cleansing base.
Two things to check before buying
It is strongly fragranced
The ingredient list includes fragrance plus limonene, geraniol, citral, hexyl cinnamal and linalool — five declared fragrance allergens. These are declared precisely because they are the compounds most likely to cause reactions.
Most people will have no issue at all, and the scent is a large part of the appeal. But if you have eczema, keratosis pilaris on a reactive base, or known fragrance sensitivity, this is not the body wash for you.
It contains Yellow No. 5
The colour comes from tartrazine (Yellow No. 5), a synthetic dye. It is a purely cosmetic inclusion with no skincare benefit — worth knowing if you prefer to avoid added colourants, though it is rinsed off within a minute.
How to use it
- Apply to wet skin using a shower ball or loofah to build lather — it foams better with one.
- Massage over the body, spending a little longer on the back, chest and shoulders if those are your problem areas.
- Leave it on for thirty to sixty seconds before rinsing. With a rinse-off product, contact time is the only lever you have.
- Rinse with lukewarm water and moisturise while skin is still slightly damp.
Frequency: daily is fine. The acid content is low and heavily diluted in use.
If body breakouts are the real problem
Pair it with a leave-on treatment, because that is where the actual work happens. The Red Acne Body Peeling Shot stays on the skin and does considerably more for congestion than any wash can.
How it compares with the other Medicube body products
| Product | Choose it for | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Kojic Acid Turmeric Vita Brightening Body Wash | Daily washing, tone and scent | Rinse-off |
| Red Acne Body Wash 2.0 | Active body acne | Rinse-off |
| Red Acne Body Peeling Shot | Congestion and rough texture | Leave-on |
| Kojic Acid Turmeric Body Peel Shot | Body tone, with real contact time | Leave-on |
For body brightening, the leave-on peel shot is the product that can actually deliver it. Use this wash alongside it rather than instead of it. Browse the complete Medicube range at EmartGCC.
Frequently asked questions
How much kojic acid does it contain?
200 ppm, which is 0.02%. That is a token level rather than a treatment level. The niacinamide, declared at 20,000 ppm or 2%, is the meaningful active in this formula.
Will it lighten dark patches on my body?
Not to any significant degree. A body wash is rinsed off within about a minute, which is not enough contact time for brightening actives to work regardless of brand. For body pigmentation, use a leave-on product such as the Kojic Acid Turmeric Body Peel Shot.
So is it worth buying at all?
Yes, if you buy it for what it is. It is a pleasant, well-scented daily body wash containing salicylic acid and 2% niacinamide, which genuinely helps with body breakouts and rough texture. It is just not a brightening treatment.
Does it help with body acne?
It should help. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble and gets into pores, and it works reasonably well even in rinse-off products. For persistent back or chest acne, add a leave-on treatment as well.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Often not. It contains fragrance plus five declared allergens — limonene, geraniol, citral, hexyl cinnamal and linalool — and a synthetic dye. If you have eczema or known fragrance sensitivity, choose something unfragranced instead.
Can I use it on my face?
No. It is formulated for body skin, which is thicker and more tolerant. Use a dedicated facial cleanser on your face.
How long does a 400ml bottle last?
Used daily, most people get roughly two months from it, though this varies a lot with how much you use per shower and whether you use a loofah.
Why does it foam better with a shower ball?
The surfactant system is designed to lather with agitation. Applying it straight from the bottle to skin uses more product for less foam, so a loofah or shower ball makes the bottle last noticeably longer.
Should I moisturise afterwards?
Yes. Any cleanser removes some skin lipids, and applying body lotion while skin is still slightly damp locks in far more moisture than applying it to fully dry skin.
Buying Medicube in Kuwait
EmartGCC supplies 100% original Medicube with delivery across Kuwait, usually next day, cash on delivery available and a 14-day return window on unopened items. Store it out of direct sun in the bathroom — the vitamin C content is minimal, but the fragrance compounds degrade with prolonged heat.
