Medicube Kojic Acid Turmeric Pad is a dual-textured toner pad combining 3% glycolic acid with kojic acid and turmeric. It is the brightening exfoliant in Medicube's pad line-up: the glycolic acid resurfaces while kojic acid works on pigment production and turmeric calms the inflammation that drives dark marks. Medicube reports visible improvement in uneven patches, sebum and rough texture within two weeks.

How the three actives divide the work
Pigmentation is a two-part problem: there is the pigment already sitting in the upper layers of skin, and there is the pigment your skin keeps producing. This formula addresses both, plus the trigger behind them.
- Glycolic acid (3%) is the smallest AHA molecule and the most penetrating. It loosens dead cells at the surface so pigmented ones shed faster — clearing what is already there.
- Kojic acid, a by-product of rice fermentation, inhibits tyrosinase, the enzyme that triggers melanin production — reducing what gets made next.
- Turmeric supplies curcumin, an anti-inflammatory antioxidant. This matters more than it sounds: inflammation is one of the main triggers of pigmentation, which is why irritating your skin in pursuit of brightness usually backfires.
At 3%, the glycolic acid is meaningful but moderate — well below the 8–10% found in dedicated peel products. That is deliberate, because the goal here is steady brightening rather than aggressive resurfacing.
Why this suits Kuwait
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation — the brown mark left after a spot or any irritation — is more common and far more persistent in medium and deeper skin tones. Combined with year-round high UV, pigmentation is the most common local skincare concern. The turmeric here matters for exactly that reason: calming the skin while you brighten it reduces the risk of creating new marks in the process.
How to use them
- Cleanse first and pat your face dry. Pads go on after cleansing, never instead of it.
- Take one pad and start with the embossed side, sweeping gently across the face and avoiding the eye area.
- Flip to the smooth side and go over the face again, more slowly, to soothe.
- For stubborn spots, leave the pad resting on the area for 3–5 minutes as a targeted treatment.
- Do not rinse. Press the remaining essence in, then follow with serum, moisturiser and — every morning — sunscreen.
Frequency, and the mistake to avoid
Start at two to three times a week and build up only if your skin stays comfortable. Tightness, stinging, unexpected flaking or new sensitivity means you are over-exfoliating — reduce rather than push through, because irritation causes the very pigmentation you are treating.
Never combine pad types in one session. Several Medicube products contain acids, and stacking them is the fastest route to a damaged barrier:
- Not with Zero Pore Pad 2.0 (4.5% AHA + 0.45% BHA).
- Not with Deep Vita C Pad.
- Not on the same night as the retinol-containing Kojic Acid Turmeric Night Wrapping Mask.
Which Medicube pad should you choose?
| Pad | Choose it for | Exfoliant strength |
|---|---|---|
| Kojic Acid Turmeric Pad | Dark spots and uneven patches | Moderate — 3% glycolic acid |
| Deep Vita C Pad | Gentle daily brightening | Mild — PHA |
| Zero Pore Pad 2.0 | Blackheads and congestion | Strong — 4.5% AHA + 0.45% BHA |
| Red Succinic Acid Peeling Pad | Active breakouts | Moderate — succinic acid |

Frequently asked questions
How do you use Medicube kojic acid and turmeric pads?
After cleansing, wipe the embossed side gently across the face avoiding the eyes, then flip to the smooth side and repeat. For dark spots, leave the pad on the area for 3–5 minutes. Do not rinse — press the essence in and continue with your routine.
Can I use them every day?
Not at first. With 3% glycolic acid these are a genuine exfoliant — start at two to three times a week. Some skin types build to more frequent use, but daily is unnecessary for most people.
Do you use the pads before or after cleansing?
After. They are a toner and treatment step, not a cleanser. Using them on unwashed skin simply spreads makeup and sunscreen around.
How long until dark spots fade?
Overall brightness and smoothness improve within about two weeks. Established dark spots take 8 to 12 weeks of consistent use, and only alongside daily sunscreen. Individual results vary.
Can I use them with vitamin C or retinol?
Not in the same session. Keep vitamin C to mornings and retinoids to different nights. Layering multiple actives at once is the most common cause of irritation.
Do I need sunscreen with these?
Absolutely. Glycolic acid increases sun sensitivity, and you are actively treating pigmentation — without daily sunscreen, UV exposure will undo the results faster than the pads can deliver them.
Will turmeric stain my skin?
No. This is a purified cosmetic extract used at low levels, not culinary turmeric, so it leaves no yellow tint.
Are they suitable for sensitive skin?
With care. Turmeric is calming, but glycolic acid can sting reactive skin. Patch test first and start once a week — or choose the PHA-based Deep Vita C Pad instead.
