Talal Al Mashari
Medicube Deep Vita C Capsule Serum combines three different forms of vitamin C with 5% niacinamide and 77% seabuckthorn water, delivered in melt-in capsules. It is the gentle, everyday counterpart to the brand's high-strength ampoule — designed for daily brightening rather than intensive spot treatment, and formulated as low-irritation for all skin types.

Why three forms of vitamin C
Vitamin C in skincare is a trade-off between potency and stability, and this formula hedges across it by using three different molecules.
- Ascorbic acid is pure vitamin C — the most researched and most potent form, but also the least stable. It oxidises quickly on exposure to air, light and heat.
- Sodium ascorbyl phosphate is a stable derivative that converts to active vitamin C in the skin. It is much gentler, well tolerated by sensitive skin, and additionally has some evidence behind it for blemish-prone skin.
- 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid is a hybrid: stable in the bottle like a derivative, but converting efficiently once absorbed. It is one of the better-performing modern derivatives.
The capsule format serves the same goal. Suspending actives in capsules that rupture on application limits their exposure to air until the moment of use, which helps address vitamin C's biggest practical weakness.
Seabuckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) at 77% replaces most of the water in the formula. The berry is one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C and carries additional antioxidants and fatty acids.
The niacinamide and vitamin C myth
You will still see advice online that niacinamide and vitamin C should never be combined. That claim is outdated. It originates from 1960s research using unstable raw ingredients at high temperatures, where the two could react to form nicotinic acid and cause flushing. Modern cosmetic formulations do not behave that way, and the two are now routinely and deliberately combined — as they are here, in a product from a major brand at 5% niacinamide.
In practice they complement each other: vitamin C interrupts pigment production, niacinamide reduces pigment transfer to the skin's surface, and niacinamide also strengthens the barrier against the mild irritation vitamin C can cause.
How it compares to the Deep Vita C Ampoule
Deep Vita C Ampoule 2.0 contains 14.5% pure vitamin C — a high-strength treatment that needs gradual introduction and can tingle. This capsule serum is the gentler daily option: less intense, more tolerable, better suited to sensitive skin or to anyone new to vitamin C. Choose the ampoule for stubborn dark spots; choose this for everyday radiance and maintenance.
How to use it
- Cleanse and apply toner, then let the skin settle.
- Dispense a small amount — the capsules will be visible in the serum.
- Spread gently across the face, which ruptures the capsules and releases the actives.
- Pat until fully absorbed, then follow with moisturiser.
- Apply sunscreen every morning — essential with any brightening routine.
Frequency: once or twice daily. Because it is low-irritation, most people tolerate it morning and night from the start. If you are new to vitamin C, begin with mornings only.

Frequently asked questions
How do you use the Medicube Deep Vitamin C Capsule Serum?
After cleansing and toner, apply a small amount and spread it across the face — this bursts the capsules and releases the actives. Pat until absorbed, then follow with moisturiser and, in the morning, sunscreen.
Can I use it every day?
Yes. It is a low-irritation formula suitable for daily use, morning and evening. Start with mornings only if you have never used vitamin C before.
Can I apply the capsules directly to my face?
The capsules are designed to be dispensed as part of the serum and burst as you spread it. There is no need to separate or apply them individually — spreading the serum is what releases them.
Does Medicube vitamin C actually work?
Vitamin C is among the best-evidenced brightening and antioxidant ingredients, and this formula uses three forms plus 5% niacinamide. Expect gradual improvement in radiance over a few weeks and 8 to 12 weeks for dark spots, alongside daily sunscreen. Individual results vary.
Can I use niacinamide and vitamin C together?
Yes. The idea that they cannot be combined is based on outdated research using raw ingredients under conditions unlike modern formulations. This product deliberately contains both, and they work well together.
Should I use this or the Deep Vita C Ampoule?
This serum for gentle daily brightening and sensitive skin; the ampoule, at 14.5% pure vitamin C, for stubborn dark spots. Using both is unnecessary — pick one as your vitamin C step.
Morning or night?
Either. Mornings pair the antioxidant benefit with sunscreen; evenings suit those who prefer to keep actives separate. Just avoid layering it directly with strong acids or retinoids in the same application.
Will it oxidise and turn yellow?
The capsule format and stable derivatives make it more resistant than a pure ascorbic acid serum, but it is still vitamin C. Keep the bottle closed and stored somewhere cool and dark — which matters especially in Kuwait's heat.
