Who the Mild version is actually for

Anua did not make this because the original was flawed. They made it because a cleansing oil strong enough to strip a full face of long-wear sunscreen is more than a lot of people need, and more than some people's skin tolerates.

Take the Mild if any of these describe you:

• Your skin feels tight after the original. That tightness is the signal that a cleanse is doing more than it needs to.
• You are using retinol, azelaic acid or exfoliating acids. A compromised or busy barrier does not need an assertive cleanse on top.
• You wear light makeup or sunscreen only. There is simply less to remove.
• Your skin is dry or dehydrated, particularly in air-conditioning through the summer.

What "mild" changes, and what it does not

Milder means a lighter cleansing action and a softer after-feel. It does not mean the heartleaf content is reduced or that it is a weaker product in quality terms. It also does not mean you can skip the second cleanse — that step is about removing water-soluble grime, which no oil handles.

How to use it

1. Dry hands, dry face. Water stops the oil binding to sunscreen and makeup — this is the most common mistake with any cleansing oil.
2. Two to three pumps, massaged gently for about a minute. No scrubbing; the oil does the work.
3. Add water and keep massaging until the oil turns milky. That colour change is the emulsifier activating, and it is what lets the oil rinse clean.
4. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Why does it turn white when I add water?

That is emulsification, and it is intentional. The emulsifier lets the oil mix with water so it rinses away completely instead of smearing. If it never turns milky, add more water and keep massaging.
