What's in it, and why fermentation matters

This is the product that built Haruharu Wonder's reputation, and the formula is genuinely well constructed. Black rice extract appears at 2,000ppm in fermented form — fermentation breaks larger molecules into smaller ones, which generally improves how well they sit in a formula and how readily skin can take them up. Black rice is rich in anthocyanins, the same dark pigments found in blackberries and blueberries, which act as antioxidants.

Alongside it: Ecocert-certified hyaluronic acid for hydration and texture, fermented bamboo shoot bark extract for tone and soothing, and betaine — an underrated humectant that holds water without the stickiness heavier hydrators can leave. Roughly 95% of the formula is naturally derived, and the texture is a watery essence rather than an astringent toner.

The formula also contains lavender essential oil at under 0.02% — a trace amount, included for its scent and mild calming properties.
